WHAT ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE CHEWABLE TABLETS IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
Aluminium Hydroxide Chewable Tablets belong to a group of drugs known as Dried Aluminium Hydroxide, which act on the reduction of acidity and relief from post-operative gaseous distension, gastric ulcers.
THEY ARE USED TO TREAT THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS
- Dyspepsia
- Heartburn
- Sour stomach
- Flatulence
- Peptic ulcer pain
Reduce the amount of phosphate which your body absorbs from the food you eat. It combines with phosphate in your stomach and this is then removed instead of being absorbed.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TAKE ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE CHEWABLE TABLETS
DO NOT TAKE ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE CHEWABLE TABLETS IF YOU
- are patients who are severely debilitated or suffering from kidney failure
- are allergic to aluminium hydroxide or to any of the excipients
- are suffering with hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactosemalabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

- If you are pregnant or breast feeding.
- If you have any problems with the way your liver works or any problems with the way your kidneys work.
- If you have been told you have low levels of phosphate in your blood.
- If you are taking any other medicines. This includes any medicines you are taking which are available to buy without a prescription, as well as herbal and complementary medicines.

- bowel, intestinal, or stomach disease

- an unusual or allergic reaction to aluminum hydroxide or other antacids, foods, dyes, or preservatives
OTHER MEDICINES AND ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE CHEWABLE TABLETS
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines especially : antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, gatifloxacin, tetracycline, heart medicines, such as digoxin or digitoxin, delavirdine, gabapentin, etidronate, isoniazid, fungal infections like itraconazole, ketoconazole, medicines for osteoporosis like alendronate, etidronate, risedronate, for seizures like ethotoin, tiludronate, phenytoin, methenamine, phenothiazines like chlorpromazine, mesoridazine, prochlorperazine, thioridazine, quinidine, rosuvastatin, sotalol, tacrolimus, thyroid hormones like levothyroxine, vitamin D

HOW TO TAKE ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE TABLETS
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.You will be prescribed the lowest dose needed to control your symptoms.
- Do not stop taking your medicine or change the dose unless your doctor tells you to.
- The tablets should be chewed. Do not swallow the whole.
- For indigestion
- Adults including the elderly
- Take one or two tablets 4 times each day
- Take 20 minutes to one hour after meals and at bedtime or as required
- If you are taking aluminium hydroxide to reduce the amount of phosphate in your body, your doctor will tell you how many tablets to take each day. You could be asked to take between 4-20 tablets a day. Take the tablets spaced out throughout the day with your meals.
- Children
- Aluminium Hydroxide Tablets are not recommended for children
- If you don’t feel better
- If you don’t feel the tablets are working as well after you have taken them for a short time (3-4 days), do not increase the dose; instead check with your doctor.
If you take more Aluminium Hydroxide Tablets than you should If you accidentally take more tablets or somebody else takes any tablets, contact a doctor or go to your nearest hospital casualty department at once. Take any remaining tablets with you and the container or packaging, so they can be identified.
If you forget to take Aluminium Hydroxide Tablets If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects although not everybody gets them. Do not be alarmed by this list of side effects. Most of people take Aluminium Hydroxide without any problems system disorders.

- hypersensitivity reactions, such as pruritus, urticaria, angioedema and anaphylactic reactions.

Hyperaluminemia Hypophosphatemia, in prolonged use or at high doses or even normal doses of the product in patients with low-phosphorus diets, which may result in increased bone resorption, hypercalciuria, osteomalacia.

HOW TO STORE ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDE CHEWABLE TABLET
Store below 30°C, Store in a dry place, protect from light. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
